Ebony Lowe has just returned from her trip to Sri Lanka with Rainforest Rescue as part of her grand prize in the CameraPro Rainforest Rescue Photo Comp she won in November 2010.

Ebony was together with 6 other Australians on the Ride for the Rainforest trip by Rainforest Rescue. Ride for the Rainforest is a bike ride across Sri Lanka to raise money for Rainforest Rescue in Sri Lanka, which helps provide sustainable livelihoods for communities and alternatives to forest destruction.

All of the cyclists were very excited about the trip and were looking forward to meet the project partners and community volunteers on day 8 of the trip when they were going to visit the local project.

Before the trip commenced, the cyclists had collectively raised $16,460 for the Sri Lanka Plant A Rainforest Project through personal fundraising and by creating a profile on Every Day Hero.

The funds raised will help Rainforest Rescue to protect Sri Lanka’s last remaining rainforest by reducing the pressures on rainforest resources through community education programs, property purchase and rainforest regeneration, thereby establishing sustainable livelihood for local residents.

CameraPro sponsors Rainforest Rescue on an ongoing basis and we are very thrilled to have sent the winner of our recent photo comp on this trip.

Stay tuned to hear more about the trip, Sri Lanka, the projects there and Ebony’s whole experience as she settles back into her life in Hastings Point.
